Babymoon | Gaya Island Resort (Malaysia)

Technically, you can fly up to 36 weeks pregnant (with doctor's note after 28 weeks, or when you are in the 3rd Trimester). I've decided to stay on the safe side and take my final trip at 26 weeks to Kota Kinabalu, which is just a 2hr flight away from Singapore.

I've previously been to Gaya Island Resort and had a great time there, so I knew it was a good idea to go back even though I was sneaking around a basketball in my belly.

How to get there?
Gaya Island Resort is one of the easiest beach resorts I've been to in this area. You fly into Kota Kinabalu airport, take a 15min cab ride to the Jesselton Point pier, and then Gaya Island provides a speed boat service which takes you to the resort in under 10 minutes.

What to do there?
The resort is the type of place where you go and do almost nothing. They have activities like yoga, local crafts, snorkeling, nature walk (1.5hr).. etc. They have 2 Japanese restaurants, 1 main dining area (buffet style), 1 fancy dress seafood restaurant, pool bar with food till 7pm, and outdoor BBQ with limited seating/booking in advance required.

They also have a gym, library, souvenir shop, adult and kiddy pool, beach front lounging area where they serve drinks and also provide picnic baskets.

And the massage & spa services are just top notch amazing.

Why do I love it?
The rooms are amazing. You walk in and it's a massive King Size + bed, then a study plus walk-in closet area, then the toilet/shower/massive tub plus 2 sinks. You have 3 rooms and it is the size of a suite at most hotels. You also have a private balcony in each room with sun chairs and cushions for you to relax and catch up with reading. The rooms also come with the comfiest flip flops, and a beach bag for ladies to use.

The staff gave out gingerbread men to each guest on Christmas Eve

This is the resort "snowman", they call him Olaf. I think it looks more like a Bob. Not sure why
